Muzikářová, Veronika ; Czapek, Jakub (referee) ; Nový, Vítězslav (advisor)
The master project focuses on the design of a multifunctional apartment building situated in the new South quarter of Brno in the context of its urban development and also based on the urban and volumetric study titled Brno - new South quarter, published by Kancelář architekta města Brna (KAM). Brno, like most big cities, is struggling with suburbanization, therefore the current topic is to solve mainly the development in the city in a way that people do not need to leave beyond its borders. The main focus of this thesis is the design and research of the gallery-access apartment building with the gallery situated on the front facade. Part of the thesis is also separate book of analysis, that was made together with colleagues as an undergraduate project.
Collective versus Communal
Dostálová, Johana ; Mertová, Martina (referee) ; Hora, Jan (advisor)
The Povel panel block estate is a typical example of an area that has undergone a fundamental transformation from a community way of life to an anonymous living space as part of the collectivization of housing. This has led to a severing of ties between the inhabitants with each other and with the place itself. This alienation is written into the situation of the inhabited environment. The potential of the oversized open space between the panel blocks remains untapped and vague. Through spatial interventions, I insert opportunities for establishing new relationships into the "no man's land". This inserted layer contributes to the overall sustainability of the Povel area.
Gap options (třída Kapitána Jaroše, Brno, CZ)
Hanušová, Petra ; Widholmová, Alžběta (referee) ; Toman, Radek (advisor)
The inner block behind the Brno City Theatre is special for its liveliness. There are several services, parking and, above all, a lot of people shorten their journey here every day - the gap is not waiting to be filled, it serves more as a portal. In the design I am working with a site that is adjacent to the theatre's blind wall and currently serves only for parking. I am proposing housing elevated above the retained parking lot, working with the idea of neighborhood and relationships. I surround the housing with greenery and adapt the character of the block to pedestrians.

Bouchot, Alicia ; Klusáková, Luďa (advisor) ; Green, Nancy (referee) ; György, Eszter (referee) ; Ozouf Marignier, Marie Vic (referee)
The aim of the analysis is to question the meaning of the idea of "mixed neighborhood" today in France. The research focuses on Arnaud-Bernard, city center district of Toulouse, during the beginning of the 1990's. Three aspects are significant: different waves of immigration, different names, and a singular event, the "district's dish" (repas-de-quartier") as social link's creator. The mechanism of the Carrefour-Culturel, main association in the neighborhood in order to build a "mixed neighborhood", has been studied in this thesis. Interviews and sources from the association have been analyzed. Moreover the literature has been examined in order to underline the complexity of the idea of "mixed neighborhood".
